10 Somali pirates on their way to the Netherlands
Ten Somali pirates picked up by the Dutch frigate HMS Tromp after hijacking a German merchant ship earlier this month are on their way to the Netherlands, the defence ministry said on Wednesday.
The 10 will be detained in the Netherlands pending their deportation to Germany to face prosecution.
The Tromp has been forced to release many of the pirates captured during its tour of duty off the coast of Somalia because no country has been willing to take legal action against them.
