Fourth allround title for speed skater Kramer

Sven Kramer took the world allround speed skating title for the fourth year in a row in Heerenveen this weekend.

Kramer, who took Olympic gold in the 5,000m, was in second place ahead of the final event – the 10,000m. He finished that 18 seconds ahead of the then-leader, Jonathan Kuck of the US, to take the gold. Norway’s Havard Bokko was third.
It is the first time in history a skater has taken the world title four years in succession.
In the women’s event, the Netherlands Ireen Wüst took bronze. The title went to Martina Salikova of the Czech Republic. Canada’s Kristina Groves took silver.
The men’s competition involves races of 500m, 1,500m, 5km and 10km, the women’s 500 m, 1,500m, 3km and 5km.
