Elections: D66 top in Leiden, Haarlem, Hilversum
The Liberal democratic party D66 emerged as the biggest party in three cities in Wednesday’s local elections: Leiden, Haarlem and Hilversum.
In all three cities, the party benefitted at the expense of Labour. In Leiden, D66 support went up five-fold and in Haarlem, four-fold. Coalitions involving the right-wing Liberals VVD would seem likely in all three local authority districts.
