Almost 500,000 copies of the first volume of the Millennium trilogy were sold last year. The second and third parts were in sixth and seventh place in the rankings.
Second on the best seller list was Sarah’s Key (Elle s’appelait Sarah) by French writer Tatiana de Rosnay.
Top ranked original Dutch book was Het Diner (the dinner) by Herman Koch in fourth place. The book is described by the CPNB as ‘a family drama with black edges’.
In total 45.1 million Dutch language books were sold last year, both originally in Dutch and in translation. Total sales were down 3% at €575m while the average price of a book rose 2.9% tp €12.77.
