Noord-Holland banks with the state again

The province of Noord-Holland is to transfer all its finances – totalling some €1bn – away from the private sector and into state control.

Last year it emerged Noord-Holland lost €98m through the collapse of a number of foreign banks, of which €78m was invested in Icesave. Some of that money was also borrowed.
The move to state banking means the province will run less risks with its reserves.
