MP threatens teens with baseball bat
Labour MP Luuk Blom has been accused of threatening a 17-year-old youth and his girlfriend with a baseball bat for allegedly throwing a snowball at his house, the Telegraaf reports on Monday.
Blom lives in the village of Sint-Annaland in Zeeland and says he took the baseball bat with him when he went to confront boys who were throwing balls of ice at his windows.
He says he has often had to call in the police because he and his family face intimidation, bullying and threats because of his political work.
The MP has admitted his behaviour was tactless and has apologised. ‘But at the same time, I believe I must be able to speak to these youths about the continuing nuisance and loutish behaviour, he told the paper.
The Labour party says it accepts his explanation and will take no further action.
