Less tobacco sold in 2009

The amount of cigarettes sold in the Netherlands fell 10% and rolling tobacco 7% in 2009, according to new figures from the tobacco industry.


But total sales were up to over €4.1bn because of higher prices, the organisation said.
Some 25% of the Dutch population now smoke an average of between 15 and 20 cigarettes a day.
