Eagle owl escapes from Groningen zoo
Keepers at the Wonderwereld zoo in Ter Apel, Groningen, are hunting for a huge Eurasian eagle owl which flew off during a flying display on Sunday.
The owl, known as Pluim, was raised in the zoo and has never learned to catch his own prey. Eagle owls, the biggest owls in Europe are native to the Netherlands. Pluim is over 50cm tall with a wingspan of 1.5 meters.
In November another eagle owl escaped in Groningen, this time from a private collector.
