No checks on journalist who infiltrated PVV

A journalist for magazine HP/DeTijd spend four months on ‘work experience’ at Geert Wilder’s anti-Islam party PVV without undergoing any background checks, the Telegraaf reports on Tuesday.

A simple Google search would have revealed Karen Geurtsen is a journalist and none of her friends or family were ever asked about her background, the paper says.
Wilders is supposed to be under heavy security because of the numerous threats on his life. Geurtsen says she came close to Wilders on several occasions, including on a party boat trip. ‘If I had wanted to, I could have done something to him,’ she told the paper.
A spokesman for the counter terrorism body NCTb, which is in charge of Wilders’ security, declined to comment on the claims.
Geurtsen was taken on by PVV MP Raymond de Roon after a 30 minute interview. She wrote speeches for the MP and was able to move around the parliamentary complex freely with a party worker pass.
The magazine will publish Geurtsen’s experiences over the next few weeks. She was quoted as saying in the Telegraaf that the PVV does not expect to be part of government because other parties will conspire against it. She also heard some ‘racist statements’ during her internship.
