An Amsterdam court judge has resigned after a number of case files were found on the street outside her home in The Hague, mixed up in ordinary household rubbish, the AD reports on Friday.

Elies van Sliedregt told the paper the files should have been destroyed, but that they only referred to old cases.
However, the AD states some of the paperwork is connected to a recent drugs smuggling trial in the capital. Other files focus on Yugoslavian and Rwandan war criminals – including requests for extradition and transcribed telephone conversations.
Court president Carla Eradus told the paper Sliedregt had made ‘an extraordinarily stupid mistake.’
