Feyenoord puts PSV out of the cup
Rotterdam club Feyenoord put premier league leaders PSV Eindhoven out of the Dutch Cup on Wednesday night with a 3-0 victory over the favourites.
And in another major upset, first division side Go Ahead Eagles of Dordrecht eliminated NAC Breda with a 1-2 away victory. It is the first time the Eagles have made the cup semi-finals since 1981.
At least 10 people were arrested when riot police broke up fights between rival groups of fans after the match.
Elsewhere Amsterdam’s Ajax put on a lacklustre performance to beat NEC of Nijmegen 3-2.
And FC Twente showed they were back on form with a 0-4 victory over Sparta of Rotterdam, after two league draws.
Feyenoord will take on Twente in the first semi final on March 23 while Go Ahead Eagles will meet Ajax on March 25. The last time both Feyenoord and Ajax made it to the cup semi finals was in 2005 and neither club made it to the final match.
This year’s cup final will take place on April 25.
