Vampire film wins critics’ award
The ‘poetic’ Swedish vampire film Let the right one in has been voted as the best cinema film of 2009 by Dutch film critics, report various media on Tuesday.
In second place is Pixar’s animation movie UP while the international blockbuster and winner of seven Oscars, Slumdog Millionaire, comes in at third.
The film critics chose Kan door huid heen by director Esther Rots as the year’s best Dutch film. The film tells the story of a woman who goes to the countryside to try and process the ordeal of being raped. Kan door huid heen also won three prizes at the Dutch Film Festival earlier this year.
The English-language production Nothing Personal by Urszula Antoniak, which also won four Golden Kalf awards (the Dutch ‘Oscars’), came second in the Dutch film category.
The third Dutch movie chosen by the jury representing almost 70 professional film critics, was the film version of the book Komt een vrouw bij de dokter written by Kluun. The film was directed by Reinout Oerlemans.
