Snow and ice cause little problem on roads
Overnight snow and ice have not led to major problems on the roads on Wednesday morning according to traffic organisations.
Snow fell in northern and central parts of the country, including Amsterdam, but despite the dire warnings issued on Tuesday there were no major incidents reported and most main roads were gritted.
Nevertheless, the ANWB motoring organisation says its warning is still in place for Wednesday morning and advises drivers to take extra care.
Discount train fares
Meanwhile rail travellers are this week being compensated for the delays caused by the heavy snow before Christmas.
On Monday and Tuesday passengers with a season ticket were offered free travel for a second person and on Wednesday and Thursday everyone is being given a 40% discount on train fares.
However the public transport users association Rover feels the compensation for season ticket holders is insufficient.
