Randstad sees positive trend continuing

Dutch-based international staffing concern Randstad believes that the employment market in the US, seen as a barometer for other markets, is seeing a recovery.

‘The decline in employment levels across the United States eased for the eight consecutive month in November, suggesting that job prospects in all sectors are continuing to improve,’ the company said in a statement on Friday.
Randstad says it has found work for more temporary employees in the US in the last two weeks than the same period last year.
The company also says that revenue per working day in October decreased by 21% organically, compared to a decline of 26% in September and that the trend continued to improve in November.
The situation has improved in Europe too although the Netherlands is lagging behind countries like Germany and which have early-cyclical industries. Holland has a relatively large services sector which is late-cyclical, the company said.
The company did not announce new financial targets. In October Randstad announced a 25% fall in profit to €61m for the third quarter and a 28% fall in turnover compared to a year earlier.
