Kroes thinks her new job is ‘more creative’
EU competition commissioner Neelie Kroes, who is about to take over the IT and telecoms portfolio in the revamped commission, thinks her new job is ‘more creative, if that’s possible’, news agency ANP reports.
Speaking at a meeting organised by the Liberal party VVD in Brussels, Kroes said her new role as digital agenda chief encompasses a broad spectrum of policy areas, from healthcare to climate change and the economy. Above all, she will be ‘closer to the people’, ANP quoted her as saying.
Kroes declined to say much about how she saw her new job developing, but did say she would be extra vigilant on the abuse of modern technology by both hackers and government.
