Aimco wants to work together with Dutch postal firm TNT on consolidation in the European courier market, the Canadian asset manager said on Wednesday.

‘The current European couriers market is very fragmented. We hope to work with TNT to consolidate the market and help the organisation to grow,’ chairman Leo de Bever says on the Financieele Dagblad’s website.
The Aimco team is known for its willingness to work with management to solve growth-related problems, he said.
TNT’s chairman Peter Bakker told the FD on Wednesday he had no idea what Aimco and hedge fund Jana wanted. The two companies hold over 5% of TNT’s shares. The stake has been built up since last Thursday, when TNT announced a strategy rethink to focus on express delivery services, the FD said.
The paper claims Jana wants to separate TNT’s post and express divisions and prepare them both for sale.
