ABN Amro divestments completed this week
ABN Amro expects to complete the sale of its commercial banking activities to Deutsche Bank this week, according to the Dutch bank’s CEO Gerrit Zalm, reports the Financieele Dagblad website on Wednesday.
The sale is a pre-condition for the European Commission’s approval of a merger between the
Dutch arm of ABN Amro and Fortis Bank Nederland.
According to Zalm, the integration of Fortis will begin in the second quarter of 2010, reports FD.nl.
MPs oppose the sale of HBU and a number of regional offices to Deutsche Bank saying the price is too low.
