Tax and talent determine HQ location

Tax rates and the availability of top talent are the main factors when choosing where to locate corporate headquarters, according to research by Erasmus University carried out at the 100 biggest companies in the country.

However, the Netherlands itself scores ‘just a sufficient’ on both factors, the report, drawn up for the employers organisation VNO-NCW, shows.
The report states two of the 100 companies in the survey expect to leave the Netherlands in the next five years while 13 are considering a partial relocation.
VNO-NCW chairman Bernard Wientjes described the report in the Financieele Dagblad as positive, but a warning to government to keep an eye on things.
