No punishment for Uruzgan solder refuseniks

A small group of Dutch soldiers serving with Nato forces in Afghanistan are not being punished for refusing to carry out an order last year, the Telegraaf reports on Monday.

Two of the group were sent back to the Netherlands but this will not have any negative consquences for their military career, the paper said. One of the two, a sergeant, is taking legal action against his repatriation and told the Volkskrant on Saturday he wanted to restore the honour of the entire patrol.
The patrol refused to carry out a mission because they said preparations had been inadequate.
