Flopped tv format wins entertainment Emmy

A Dutch television show format which was dropped by the public broadcasting system after two seasons because of low viewing figures has won a top US award.

The Phone, a cross between a thriller and a game show in which players are given challenges by mobile phone, was devised by Park Lane, the production company part owned by tv presenter Beau van Erven Dorens.
At a glittering ceremony in New York on Monday night, the show took the international Emmy Award for non-scripted entertainment.
BNN’s Grote Donorshow, a fake competition to win a new kidney won the same award last year.
