Albert Heijn to expand into non-food
The Albert Heijn supermarket group is to expand its non-food product range ‘considerably’ in the first quarter of 2010, chief operating officer Dick Boer told a meeting with journalists on Monday.
‘Albert Heijn XL shops will have a special non-food department from the first quarter,’ Nos reported Boer as saying. ‘In smaller stores, the existing space for non-food items will be used more efficiently.’
The new non-food lines will include table linen and clothing and AH has already hired in designers to develop the house style, Nos reported.
