Schoolgirl killed in bus crash in Spain.
A bus taking some 53 pupils and six teachers from a secondary school in Nijmegen on an educational trip to Barcelona crashed in the early hours of Monday morning, killing one 15-year-old girl and injuring a number of other pupils.
Some 20 children were injured when the bus flipped over on a motorway exit heading for Gerona. According to Nos tv, 11 were still in hospital in Gerona and Figueres on Monday afternoon. Two are in a serious condition, the broadcaster says.
One media report says something caused the driver to brake and the bus overturned on a bend. Nos tv says it appears the driver overshot the exit.
Efforts are under way to bring the survivors back to the Netherlands as soon as possible.
This summer six Dutch tourists were killed in a bus crash in the same part of Spain. In that incident, the driver was travelling too fast, accident investigators said.
