Landlord spied on students with webcam

A 45-year-old English man is on trial in Groningen for using a webcam to spying on female students who lodged in his house.

Two students and one of their boyfriends made formal complaints to the police about the webcams, one of which was in the bathroom.
The man denies spying on the girls and told the court he had forgotten about the cameras.
The man has previous convictions for sex crimes, in both the Netherlands and the UK, newspaper Dagblad van het Noorden reports.
He was originally arrested on child pornography charges, an investigation which led to the arrest of two other men, one of whom is also English, the paper said.
The court will announce its verdict in two weeks.
Yesterday it emerged Radboud University had sacked a worker for fitting a webcam in an invalid toilet.
