Jumbo wins supermarket group battle: FD

Family-owned supermarket firm Jumbo is set to take over the Super de Boer supermarket chain from France’s Casino, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Monday.

The paper says Jumbo increased its earlier offer for Super de Boer, seeing off a rival bid from the Sperwer group. It bases its claims on sources close to the talks.
The deal, and financial details, will be formally announced on Monday, the paper says.
Jumbo will sell 80 of the 305 Super de Boer groups on to Schuitema, which operates the C1000 supermarket chain. The rest will be turned into Jumbo outlets.
