AZ struggle against amateur side in cup

Last year´s premier league champions AZ struggled to beat amateur side Spakenburg in their fourth round Dutch Cup match on Wednesday night.

With the score 2-2 at the end of regular play, the Alkmaar club finally won 5-2 after extra time.
‘How can this happen? I really do not know,’ coach Ronald Koeman was reported as saying after the game.
Meanwhile, the AD reports that AZ, owned by bankrupt DSB bank entrepreneur Dirk Scheringa, is in talks with the curators on its future. The paper says AZ is attempting to buy itself and put its shares into a foundation.
AZ lost its main shirt sponsor with the DSB bankruptcy.
Scheringa himself formally resigned as chairman on Thursday.
