Inflation rises slightly in August

The annual Dutch inflation rate reached 0.3% in August, a 0.1 percentage point up on July when inflation fell to its lowest level since 1987.

In particular, petrol prices are down 10% on a year ago and budget airline tickets are 12% cheaper, the national statistics office CBS said.
Calculated according to European methods, inflation was down slightly in August, due to the impact of the government’s free school books programme. The cost of educational materials is not included in the CBS calculations, news agency ANP said.
