Borsato film re-edit is Dutch Oscar entry
The Silent Army, a re-edit of critically-panned film Wit Licht, is this year’s Dutch entry to the Oscars, news agency ANP reported on Tuesday.
The Silent Army, starring singer Marco Borsato in his first acting role, is about a man who tries to free a child soldier in Africa. The film was written and directed by Jean van de Velde.
Although the film was given the thumbs down in the Netherlands, a re-cut version was well received at the Cannes Film Festival.
The final nomination list for best foreign language film will be announced on February 2.
