Animal protection officers seize 154 dogs

Animal protection officers have seized 154 dogs, including 78 puppies, from a dog trader in the southern town of Oisterwijk, news agency ANP said on Friday.

The animals, mainly cocker spaniels, were living in five filthy cages and did not get proper food, officials said. Two puppies were found dead and two had to be put down because they were in such poor health.
The man already has three convictions for animal cruelty, ANP said.
