Rental housing rises in price
The average price of a rent-controlled property in the Netherlands reached €498 in July, a 9% increase on July 2008, according to calculations by housing website Direct Wonen, quoted by news agency ANP.
Only people with low incomes are allowed to live in homes in the rent-controlled sector.
The average rent of a free sector home was up 2.1% at €1,213 over the year, the housing agency said.
