Amsterdam authorities have imposed strict security around Wednesday evening’s football match between the Netherlands and England at Amsterdam’s Arena stadium, report various media.
Although the match is a friendly, there are signs that supporters from various Dutch and English clubs may use the occasion to settle vendettas and are planning violent confrontations, possibly involving weapons, reports the NRC.
Precautions include the right of police to search people in certain areas, including Amsterdam city centre and some metro stations. Extra officers will also be on duty.
