Energy saving bulbs cut bills by €75 a year
Swapping traditional light bulbs for energy-saving ones will save the average Dutch household €75 on its energy bill, according to calculations by green website Milieu Centraal.
The organisation says lighting accounts for some 15% of a household’s energy bill, and that energy-saving bulbs use 75% less power than traditional ones.
The EU is in the process of phasing out standard light bulbs. From September 1, 100w bulbs will no longer be on sale, followed by bulbs using fewer watts over the next few years.
