Ajax move to top of premier league
Amsterdam’s Ajax have moved to the top of the premier league on goal difference after a convincing 4-1 home victory against RKC Waalwijk on Saturday.
The Amsterdam club is one of only two teams to have won their first two games of the season.
The other club with a maximum six points are second-placed FC Utrecht, who beat Tilburg’s Willem II 1-0 at home on Sunday.
On Sunday Rotterdam club Feyenoord could only manage a goalless draw away to Vitesse of Arnhem while Eindhoven’s PSV drew 1-1 in a tough away game against FC Twente.
Reigning champions AZ of Alkmaar, under their new coach Ronald Koeman, netted their first win of the season, beating Sparta 2-0 in Rotterdam on Friday evening.
