55,000 more truckers needed: TLN
The Netherlands is facing a shortfall of 55,000 truckers within five years, says transport lobby sector TLN.
The main reason for the shortfall is that few young people are signing up to become lorry drivers and older truckers are retiring, the organisation says. Some 25% of drivers are expected to retire over the next five years.
The transport and logistics sector is considered to be one of the mainstays of the Dutch economy.
