Telegraaf is interested in the NRC

The Telegraaf Media Group would be interested in taking over afternoon paper NRC Handelsblad under certain conditions, director Frank Volmer says in an interview with Thursday’s Financieele Dagblad.

Stock exchange-listed TMG had said earlier it was not interested in buying the NRC which has been put up for sale by its new owner.
Volmer said TMG would be interested as long as the paper’s editor and journalists supported the deal and the price was right.
The FD says five groups are vying for the Rotterdam-based newspaper, including its owner Hal and several foreign groups.
The Dutch competition authority NMa ordered the sale following the takeover of the NRC, Volkskrant and Trouw by Belgian newspaper company Persgroep.
