Finance ministry has €30m in legacies

The finance ministry is currently managing €30m in unclaimed legacies and bankruptcy pay-outs, the AD reports on Friday.

The cash mainly belongs to people who are unaware that they have inherited money. But some belongs to people who lost out when a company went bankrupt and don’t realise some of their money has been recovered.
The finance ministry keeps the money for 20 years, after which it reverts to the treasury, the AD says.
