Crime hot line leads to 600 arrests

Some 600 people have been arrested so far this year following information given to the national crime hot line, Nos tv reports on Tuesday.

In total, more than 6,800 tips were made in the first six months of this year, 500 up on a year ago.
In particular more callers have given information about missing people, armed robberies and murder cases, a spokesman for the service told Nos.
One tip led police to arrest three people for grievous bodily harm while another led to a couple from Hoofddorp being arrested for smuggling 62 Filippino women into the country, Nos said.
