Transport minister reviews road pricing
Transport minister Camiel Eurlings is to look again at the possibility of speeding up the introduction of road pricing in the Netherlands, he told MPs on Tuesday afternoon.
Two weeks ago Eurlings announced that plans to introduce road pricing – a tax on every kilometer travelled – by 2011 would not be achieved.
But MPs from the coalition Labour party are angry at the decision and want more information about the reasons for the delay. One of the aims of road pricing is to reduce congestion and therefore improve air quality.
Eurlings will debate the next move with MPs later on Wednesday.
