Paedophile suspect freed after blunder
A 32-year-old man accused of abusing his daughter and young sister-in-law has been freed by a court in Zwolle because of a police blunder, the AD reports on Wednesday.
During two out of three interviews, police officers failed to tell the defendant that he did not have to answer their questions. This had ‘seriously damaged’ his interests, the court ruled.
‘This is a scandal,’ a relative of one of the girls told the AD. ‘Thanks to a police blunder society is in danger and these girls cannot get on with their lives.’
The girls, both of whom have minor mental handicaps, are alleged to have been abused since they were six and 13.
