Household energy costs up 14%
Household energy bills rose almost 14% in January 2009 in comparison with a year earlier, representing the highest annual increase in four years, says the national statistics office CBS on Monday.
The average household will pay €1,964 for gas and electricity this year, €239 more than last year, says the CBS. Energy accounts for just over 5% of total household expenditure.
