Shareholders group to sue Deloitte
The shareholders lobby group VEB is to sue Deloitte for ‘hundreds of millions of euros’ after an appeals court ruled that the accountancy firm had been negligent in auditing the books of supermarket concern Ahold.
The ruling relates to the period around 2003 when Ahold was rocked by a major fraud scandal causing its share price to nosedive by 70%.
