Navy discovers 4,200 kg of cocaine

The Dutch navy has discovered 4,200 kg of cocaine with a street value of €200m on board a Panamanian freighter while on tour in the Caribbean.

It is the biggest drugs haul ever made by a Dutch frigate in the region, news agency ANP reports.
The freighter was on its way from Venezuela to Europe. The drugs were hidden behind a false wall and only discovered after 36 hours of searching.
The search was carried out under the auspices of JIATF South – an international organisation involving the US, Netherlands and other countries with interests in the region and based in Florida, ANP says.
