More health managers sacked

A total of 48 senior health service managers have been sacked in the first six months of this year, compared with 32 in 2007 as a whole, news agency ANP reports, quoting health magazine Zorgvisie.

The figures also show that 58 hospital directors at 33 different hospitals have been sacked since 2003.
Management coach Sierk Ter Horst told ANP most managers lost their jobs because the sector has become more risk-aware, thanks to the introduction of market forces in the sector.
Most lose their jobs because of internal conflicts and tensions rather than because they are bad managers, he was reported as saying.
