Judges to rule on small bar smoking ban

Judges in The Hague will today rule whether small bars without staff have to comply with the ban on smoking which came into effect on July 1.

Small bar owners argue that health minister Ab Klink should have taken their specific circumstances into account when imposing the ban – which aims to protect staff.
In addition, they argue that they do not have enough room to set aside a separate, sealed-off room for smokers as some bigger bars have done.
