Capgemini to take over Getronics unit
The French software company Capgemini is to take over the business application services division of the Dutch IT firm Getronics for €255m.
In a statement on its website on Friday Getronics, which is owned by telecom concern KPN, said the agreement includes the transfer of expertise, client contracts and the 2,300 employees in the business unit.
The unit, which develops applications for software, booked turnover of almost €300m in 2007, reports ANP news service. The deal is a blow for Dutch rival Ordina which has made no secret of its interest in the Getronics’ unit, said ANP.
The takeover, which still requires regulatory and trade union approval, is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2008, said Getronics.
