A court in Haarlem has given the green light to plans to gas 6,000 greylag geese on the island of Texel because of the damage they cause to farmland.
The aim is to reduce the number of breeding pairs on the island to 200, says news agency ANP. Opponents of the cull say it is a waste of time because new birds arrive immediately to take the place of those which have been killed.
