Delft book collection intact following fire
The contents of the library at Delft University’s architechture faculty have survived the fire which ripped through the building on May 13, according to a spokesman on Saturday.
‘As far as we can see at the moment, everything is undamaged,’ he told news service ANP.
The collection of 40,000 books, magazines, drawings and maps is now being inspected by specialists, ANP reports.
The library and its contents could not be cleared earlier because the building was unsafe. But two hundred chairs, including unique examples by Rietveld, Prouvé and Oud, had already been saved.
