Amsterdam joins top ten business cities

Amsterdam has entered Mastercard’s list of top ten business cities for the first time, making it the fourth European city in the listing. London is still at the top.

Professor Peter Taylor of Loughborough University, who compiles the list, says Amsterdam’s success has an historical reason.
‘It’s been an important trading centre for over 500 years, and because the Dutch economy is relatively small, people are quicker at looking across borders,’ he told Amsterdam paper Parool.
