Skiers should pay own sick pay

Workers who take time off after breaking a bone during a skiing holiday should be responsible for their own sick pay, says the small and medium-sized business lobby group MKB-Nederland in Wednesday’s Telegraaf.

‘We do not see why an entrepreneur with six employees should be hit when two off them break a leg,’ chairman Loek Hermans said.
The campaign is supported by the major employers’ organisation VNO-NCW. At the moment, companies have to pay workers up to two years sick pay.
The organisation claims 1.6 million people had time off work because of a sports or domestic injury last year.
