Police divided on industrial action

The two biggest police unions are divided on what action to take to break their deadlock on wage negotiations.

The ACP union is demanding a net pay rise of €200 per month for all police officers and has threatened industrial action this month in support of their demand.
But the NPB police union says this demand is unrealistic. ‘We will not take action for an unachievable goal,’ chairman Hans van Duijn told news agency ANP.
The NPB wants a 3.3% pay rise annually for two years plus compensation for inflation.
Both unions have 23,000 members.
Home affairs minister Guusje ter Horsthas offered the police a pay increase of 5.75% over two years. The unions broke off negotiationswith her last week saying the offer was too low.
