Dutch diplomat new UN Middle East envoy

The Dutch ambassador to Ireland, Robert Serry, has been appointed the UN’s new Middle East envoy. Serry (57) will coordinate activities on the ground and represent secretary general Ban Ki-moon at international meetings.


Serry headed the Middle East section of the Dutch foreign ministry between 1986 and 1992 and worked in the crisis management department of NATO before moving to Dublin.
